The Milken Institute has anounced that Las Cruces has again made its way into the top 10 list of 2009's Best-Performing Small Cities. This rating is based on Job Creation and sustainability and cites the impending construction of the Spaceport, and the "low cost of doing business" as two benefits for the Las Cruces Area. NMSU, White Sands Missle Range, and NASA test facilities continue to be the economic engines of this region. "With the growing aerospace engineering program at NMSU attracting aerospace firms ... Las Cruces is becoming a major player and top location for aerospace and related technology R&D firms."
The Institute also points to Las Cruces growing reputation as a retirees destination. You can read the entire article at www.lcsun-news.com and click on Milken Institute's "Best Performing Cites" 2009 list or email George for a scanned copy of the article.
