Las Cruces - The Southwest’s Best Kept Secret
Does It Get Any Better Than This??
The Organ mountains When my wife, Mary, and I decided to escape the long winters after 36 years in Alaska we began to explore New Mexico. After considering several communities over the course of 3 years. When we drove into Las Cruces we looked at each other and smiled. We knew we had a found a home. It was love at first sight and the longer we live here the more we are certain that this is our place in the sun.
A thriving City with year-round sunshine, a fascinating history, the friendliest people in the west and a rich and diverse culture. AARP has ranked Las Cruces as one of their “dream towns” to retire. Money magazine has also called us one of the ‘best college towns” to retire in. Las Cruces is thriving thanks to New Mexico State University, White Sands Missile Range, a diverse agriculture including, cattle ranches, dairy farms, pecan and pistachio orchards, cotton and chile fields, and truck farms. Retirement and Forbes rates Las Cruces as one of the best small metro areas for business and careers. This City of 95,000, is nestled between the lush Rio Grande Valley and the magnificent Organ Mountains andwe enjoy a mild, dry climate. The average high temperature in the winter is 58 degrees and the average high for the month of July is 94.8 and with more than 300 days of sunshine we enjoy golf year round. |
